Skydiver dies after crashing into billboard in Ottawa

A skydiver died after colliding with a billboard Sunday morning in downstate Ottawa.

Michel Collins, 48, collided with the billboard in the 3100 block of Route 71 in Ottawa at 10:21 a.m., according to the DuPage County coroner’s office.

When Marseilles Life Support arrived, he was suspended about one foot off the ground from the billboard.

Collins, of Lacon, was cut down and flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was pronounced dead at 12:06 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

His preliminary cause of death is massive traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office.
