Suit: CTA bus dragged man down the street

A man filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the CTA, claiming a bus dragged him down the street after his foot got stuck in the door.

Kevin Keith filed the suit in Cook County Circuit Court, claiming the bus dragged him “with his leg still stuck in the door” as he was trying to get off in the 300 block of West Cermak Road around 4:15 p.m. March 12, 2015.

The CTA, the lawsuit said, was negligent for not ensuring passengers were off the bus before it moved forward; for not adequately training or screening employees; for not properly equipping and maintaining the bus; and for not ensuring the driver was adequately rested.

As a result, Keith suffered physical and financial injuries for which he is seeking an amount in excess of $30,000, the suit said.

A CTA spokesman said the agency does not comment on pending litigation.
