Chicago Police are searching for a suspect who fired shots at officers early Wednesday in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side.

About 12:30 a.m., two officers were driving an unmarked squad car eastbound in the 2700 block of West Peterson when someone on a bicycle rode by and yelled out gang slogans, according to Chicago Police.

The officers announced themselves and attempted the stop the suspect, but he pulled out a gun and fired “several” shots, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, but the officers’ vehicle was struck.

The suspect was then able to escape on the bike, police said. A description was not immediately available early Wednesday as Area North detectives investigate.
