A Chicago Police SWAT team was called early Sunday to the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded at 2:39 a.m. to the 6800 block of South Cornell to a call of a domestic battery, according to Chicago Police. A witness saw a male strike his girlfriend and fire a shot into the air.

When officers arrived, the male and the victim were no longer at the home, police said.
