Two men were arrested in west suburban Downers Grove for driving a stolen box truck and stealing appliances from Sears.

About 9 a.m. April 20, Mark Johnson and Kedrick T. Vaughn arrived at a public storage unit in Country Club Hills in a stolen box truck, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

Johnson, 36, of south suburban Matteson, was seen offloading the stolen appliances into his personally owned storage unit, police said. The stolen truck containing the stolen appliances was tracked to the warehouse by investigators.

The driver of the box truck, Vaughn, 38, of south suburban Richton Park, was taken into custody without incident and Johnson fled the area, police said.

Investigators and state police located and arrested Johnson on Friday.

Johnson was charged with felony theft and his bond was set at $100,000, police said. He is currently being held at the Cook County Jail.

Vaughn has been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and was released on bond, police said.
