Two people were fatally shot early Wednesday in northwest Indiana.

Police responded about 4:15 a.m. to the 3700 block of Monroe Street in Gary for calls of shots fired, according to Gary Police Lt. Dawn Westerfield.

After checking several locations, officers found a vehicle with an unresponsive man and woman inside. Both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

They were pronounced dead at the scene at 5 a.m., authorities said. The deaths were ruled homicides.

The man was identified as Tamin Osborne, a 28-year-old Gary resident, according to the coroner’s office. The woman was identified as Sheila Jones, a 28-year-old from Gary.
