A 56-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical conditions with burns after firefighters found her inside a burning building in North Lawndale Saturday afternoon.

Crews responded at 4:45 p.m. to the fire in the 1500 block of South Kostner Avenue and found the woman inside, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

She was taken to Stroger Hospital.

The fire was extinguished about 20 minutes later. The cause remains under investigation.
