Voters in the 1st Cook County judicial subcircuit should pay careful attention to the long line of NRs — for “not recommended” — in the ratings by 12 bar associations of one of the two candidates on the ballot.

The NRs are lined up by the name candidate Rhonda Crawford. Don’t vote for her. She pretended to being a judge before she was one. Vote for her write-in opponent, Judge Maryam Ahmad.

On Thursday, the Crawford’s lawyer, announced Crawford has been indicted by a Cook County grand jury. Last week, we learned the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission had asked the Illinois Supreme Court to revoke Crawford’s law license. In August, Chief Judge Timothy Evans fired Crawford from her job as a law clerk after learning about the alleged incident at the Markham Courthouse.

Crawford, who won the primary in March even though the bar associations gave her across-the board NRs then as well, admits that she put on a judicial robe in the courtroom of Cook County Judge Valerie E. Turner and sat on the bench while court cases were underway.

Her story illustrates the importance of paying attention to the bar association ratings, which we offer here.
