Right fielders Adam Eaton of the White Sox, Mookie Betts of the Red Sox and George Springer of the Astros were named finalists for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award Thursday.

Eaton, 27, a finalist as a center fielder in 2014, led all major-league outfielders with 18 assists and ranked second behind Betts with 22 defensive runs saved this season. His 18 assists were the most by a Sox outfielder since Jim Rivera’s 22 and Minnie Minoso’s 19 in 1955.

Pitcher Jake Peavy in 2012 was the last Sox to win a Gold Glove. Third baseman Robin Ventura in 1998 was the last Sox position player honored.

Eaton batted .284 with 29 doubles, nine triples, 14 home runs and 59 RBI.

The winners will be announced Nov. 8.
