Specially designed boats with sails inspired by six of Chicago’s professional sports teams will set sail Thursday from Navy Pier as part of the America’s Cup youth program, Endeavour.

Selected youth participants will depart from Navy Pier and sail onLake Michigan in Hobie Wave catamarans, which will later be donated to local youth sailing programs.

The sail of each catamaran will feature special logos consisting of the Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, Sky and Fire.

The AC Endeavour program aims to educate students on sailing including aspects on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Endeavour participants will have the chance to learn and apply various aspects of sailing in line with their school curriculum.

AC Endeavour partners include the Chicago Park District, Chicago Parks Foundation and Chicago Match Race Center.

The America’s Cup World Series Chicago race will be June 10-12.
