Blackhawks sign Dennis Rasmussen to one-year deal

LAS VEGAS — Up against the salary cap, the Blackhawks needs as many capable and affordable bottom-six players as they can find. With that in mind, they re-signed center Dennis Rasmussen to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

Rasmussen had four goals and five assists in 44 games, largely filling in for the injured Marcus Kruger as the team’s fourth-line center. The 6-3, 205-pound Swede was undrafted, but bloomed late in the Swedish Elite League before being signed by the Hawks and spending the 2014-15 season in Rockford.

Terms of the deal were not immediately known, but the Hawks will need a handful of sub-million-dollar contracts in order to stay compliant with the $73-million salary cap.
