Corey Cogdell-Unrein, wife of Bears DE Mitch, wins bronze

Corey Cogdell-Unrein took bronze in women’s trap shooting Sunday, winning a sudden-death shoot-off to claim her second bronze in three Olympics.

Her husband, Bears defensive end Mitch Unrein, cheered her from his home near Chicago. They have been married for two years.

In the semifinals, Cogdell-Unrein lost to New Zealand’s Natalie Rooney in a shoot-off after they both scored 13. Cogdell-Unrein also tied Spain’s Fatima Galvez at 13 in the bronze-medal match, but Cogdell-Unrein hit her first shot this time and Galvez missed.

Australia’s Catherine Skinner beat Rooney to win the gold, hitting 12 of 15 shots.

On Saturday, members of the Bears posed in “Team Unrein” T-shirts in the Soldier Field locker room and sent the photo to Cogdell-Unrein via Twitter.

Cogdell-Unrein, who will move to Chicago when her pro season ends in October, also won bronze in 2008.
