Cubs rookie Edwards leaves game with hamstring injury

Cubs rookie right-hander Carl Edwards Jr. left Wednesday’s playoff game in the seventh inning because of left hamstring tightness, and manager Joe Maddon wasn’t sure after the game how serious it was.

“It could have been a cramp. We’re not 100 percent sure yet,” Maddon said. “It wasn’t anything awful. We’ve got to wait until tomorrow to see how he reacts to it. Talking to him he described it as being less than mild, so hopefully it’s just a cramp.”

Edwards has five scoreless appearances this postseason for the Cubs, who beat the Dodgers 10-2 in Game 4 Wednesday night to even the best-of-seven series at two games apiece.
