Dale Weise is finally on his way to join his new team.
Weise, acquired on Friday from the Montreal Canadiens, has been stuck in Canada as he awaited a work visa. He won’t play tonight in Detroit, but should enter the lineup Thursday in Boston.
“He’s supposed to be getting in here tonight,” Joel Quenneville said after Wednesday’s morning skate at Joe Louis Arena. “He’s ready to go when he gets here.”
In other roster news, Quenneville said Marian Hossa should return to the lineup either Sunday at home against the Red Wings or on the ensuing two-game road trip to St. Louis and Dallas, the two teams with which the Hawks are currently tied for first in the Central Division.
“You’re watching,” Quenneville said of the standings. “You looking at the schedule, their games and obviously keeping a close eye, not just on those teams but the whole division and conference, basically the whole league. There are big games every night.”
Christian Ehrhoff will make his Hawks debut tonight, slotting in on the third pairing on the right side, next to Trevor van Riemsdyk. Michal Rozsival will be a healthy scratch.
