Derrick Rose’s ex-girlfriend, Mieka Reese, took to Instagram to defend the beleaguered Bulls guard on Monday.

Reese, the mother of Rose’s son, P.J., reposted a statement rebuking the idea that the team belongs to Jimmy Butler.

“Everybody has an opinion about him, but who WANTS or ASK to be hurt!” Reese wrote in the caption. “How quick everyone forgets everything he DID do. But with or without a basketball he’s still Pj’s hero.”

Rose missed the past three games while recovering from a hamstring injury. He’s averaging a career-low 14 points through 27 games this season.

An MRI Monday revealed no structural damage to Rose’s right leg. He’s expected to play Tuesday night against Milwaukee, baring a setback.
