Marquess Wilson’s 8-yard touchdown catch halfway through the fourth quarter started the Bears’ failed rally Sunday.

His dropped touchdown on the next drive made the blooper reel.

After bobbling Matt Barkley’s pass in front of the rear left pylon, the receiver kicked the football as it bounced away from him — straight into the backside of a security guard looking the other way. The receiver put his arm around him, as if to say he was sorry.

“I should have caught that ball,” he said

He was saved by Deonte Thompson’s fourth-down, fade-route score that pulled the Bears within six.

Wilson was Barkley’s favorite target Sunday, setting career highs with eight catches for 125 yards.

“Matt, he has a great arm,” Wilson said. “The O-line gave him time to get the ball out. We’re just running routes, getting open for him.”

The touchdown, on an “in” route, was easier than many practice squad plays the two ran, Barkley said.

“He’s a big target, plays well and makes plays,” the quarterback said.
