Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant left the game Wednesday night in Washington with an apparent injury to his right ankle after stepping awkwardly on third base while catching a pop-up.

After the game, the Cubs said X-rays were negative and Bryant has a mild to moderate sprain. The Cubs aren’t ruling out putting him on the 10-day disabled list.

“Hopefully, it’ll just be a couple days,” manager Joe Maddon said. “Let’s hope it’s not too bad.”
