The White Sox placed right-hander Jake Petricka on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip impingement and recalled right-hander Tommy Kahnle from AAA Charlotte.

Kahnle, 26, was on the 25-man roster from April 29-May 1 and pitched one scoreless inning on April 29 in Baltimore. At Charlotte, he was 1-0 with a 2.45 and one save over nine appearances. Kahnle pitched to a 4.37 ERA in 90 appearances over the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Colorado Rockies.

Petricka, 27, pitched in nine games, most recently on May 1 when he allowed one hit in 1/3 of an inning, and is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA.

Petricka’s DL assignment is retroactive to May 2.

The Sox also made John Danks’ exit official by designating the veteran lefty for assignment and recalling right-hander Erik Johnson, who will start the Sox’ game against the Orioles Thursday night at U.S. Cellular Field. The move has been forthcoming since Tuesday.

Johnson, who was up with the Sox from April 19-24 but did not pitch, is 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA over four starts at Charlotte.

The Sox 40-man roster is at 38.
