Stephen A. Smith used to be in Derrick Rose’s corner. Before last season, the mouthy ESPN host tabbed Rose as his Comeback Player of the Year and possibly even his MVP.

Smith was expecting big things from Rose again this year. Until he heard the news Tuesday evening about the Bulls point guard suffering a fracture to his left orbital bone.

Smith about lost it on “First Take:”

“If you’re the Chicago Bulls, you might need to trade [Rose] with the numbers he’s getting paid along with the level of durability he has. Now, what makes it worse is that with the latest injury, even if you wanted to trade him, the likelihood is you can’t.”
