A man was stabbed during a fight on the lakefront on the North Side early Saturday.

Two men, ages 45 and 48, were sitting on a bench along the lakefront about 12:15 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Recreation Drive in the Lake View neighborhood. Two people walked up and started arguing with them, according to Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The confrontation escalated to a physical fight, and as the two men who had been on the bench tried to leave, the 45-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back, Zala said.

The man’s stab wound was minor, and he was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.

Police did not have a description of the offenders, who ran away after the attack.

No one was in custody Sunday evening. Area North detectives were investigating.
