KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Further tests on Jose Abreu’s left ankle performed Monday confirmed inflammation in the White Sox slugger’s left ankle. Abreu will remain in a walking boot for the next several days and be re-evaluated during the Sox home stand, which begins Thursday.

The good news for the Sox is that there is no underlying tear. Abreu went on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with posterior tibia tendonitis. He returned to Chicago Sunday to have an MRI.

Abreu leads the majors in homers with 15.
