Don’t be surprised if supermodel and actress Naomi Campbell is spotted in Chicago soon. She will be here filming a recurring role on Lee Daniels’ “Empire” TV series about the power struggles of a hip-hop record company.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Campbell will play Camilla, a woman having an affair with the man in line to take over from Terrence Howard’s character as head honcho at the label.
In a statement, Campbell said: “It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of actresses like Halle Berry, Oprah, Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique, and work with Lee Daniels.”
While Campbell is best known for her long career as a supermodel, she has appeared in a number of cameo roles, plus had a recurring part on “New York Undercover” back in the mid-’90s. She has been more visible in the world of reality TV, as star and producer of “The Face,” the show which follows aspiring models.
“Empire,” which will include original music from top producers like Timbaland, will debut on Fox early next year.
