There are those getting ready for the Chicago Marathon.

And then there’s the crowd lacing up for the DMK Sorta Marathon, which steps off at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

We’re using the word marathon lightly here. In actuality participants will travel 3.7 miles from DMK Burger Bar, 2945 N Sheffield, to DMK’s new spot, Henry’s Swing Club, 18 W. Hubbard.

Race organizers aren’t picky; they say folks can run, jog or walk down Lincoln to Clark or take whatever path they want as long as they make it to Henry’s from the Sheffield location.

Once there, participants may have free draft beer until the festivities end there at 7. (Ah, maybe this is where marathon-style activity takes place.)

Knowing that the running crowd likes competition, the first prize winner will get a free year of beer (that person gets to come to Henry’s once a week for a year and have unlimited draft beer). Those who come in second and third will be awarded free cocktail parties for 10.

Space is limited, so signing up is a must. The registration fee is $10 and you can do that here or at 2:30 the day of the event. DMK Burger Bar T-shirts go to the first 200 registrants.
