A person was taken to a hospital Monday after falling onto the Green Line tracks on the South Side.

The person fell from the platform on the tracks at the Cottage Grove station in the 800 block of East 63rd Street about 11:50 a.m., CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The person, who did not make contact with the third rail or a train, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center and was “conscious,” Hosinski said.

Service was temporarily interrupted between Garfield and Cottage, but trains were on the move again with delays as of 12:15 p.m., according to the CTA.

Police could not immediately provide information on the incident.
