(MOKENA) A person was struck by a Metra train Wednesday evening in southwest suburban Mokena.

Outbound Rock Island District train No. 409 hit the pedestrian near 183rd Street about 5 p.m., Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.

The incident did not happen at the station, Reile said. The train was approaching the Hickory Creek station at the time.

The pedestrian’s condition was not immediately known.

All Rock Island District trains were temporarily stopped as crews investigated, but are on the move again with delays between 10 and 60 minutes, Metra said.
