Longtime Chicago restauranteur and nightlife impresario Billy Dec is no stranger to TV, given his regular appearances on Chicago television, especially his gig on “Windy City Live” on WLS-Channel 7.

But now the well-known local presence is following a new dream and adding acting to his repertoire. Dec landed a guest appearance on the Halloween episode of the long-running CBS hit drama series, “Criminal Minds,” airing at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 on WBBM-Channel 2.

In the episode Dec plays a local police detective named Rosado and though he has long known series star and fellow Chicagoan Joe Mantegna well, “I didn’t let him know I was auditioning for the role. I wanted to get it on my own,” Dec told me.

Who knows, this could lead to a whole new chapter in Billy’s life.
