Hinsdale Central tennis coach Robin Kramer isn’t taking much time to relish the program’s 30th consecutive sectional championship Saturday.

The Red Devils easily captured the Downers Grove South Sectional with an all-Hinsdale Central final in both singles and doubles.

“You couldn’t ask for any different of an outcome than that,” Kramer said. “We’ll enjoy our sectional victory for about five minutes and then turn our attention to state.”

Hinsdale Central (36 points) topped Glenbard East (17) and Downers South (16) in the nine-team sectional.

Senior Rugile Valiunaite and junior Sandra Keta beat sophomore Erika Oku and freshman Stephanie Dolehide 6-0, 6-2 in the doubles championship. Sophomore Bella Lorenzini beat junior Sophia Haleas 6-1, 6-2 in the singles final.

All four entries earned berths to the state tournament Oct. 23-25 hosted by Buffalo Grove.

Glenbard East freshman Kolie Allen placed third in singles, while Rams sophomore Priscilla Palermo took fourth to also secure state trips.

Downers North senior Mary Margaret McMahon and junior Theresa McMahon finished third in doubles, while Downers South senior Tiffany Bui and junior Janine Urgello got fourth.

Hinsdale Central tied Lake Forest for the state championship last season and figures to make a run at the program’s 15th state championship.

“We’re peaking at the right time,” Kramer said. “Our preparation will be no different than any other year. We have to take it one point, one game and one set at a time.”
