Two teenage boys were shot and critically hurt in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side Saturday evening.

The shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Champlain, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The boys, 15 and 16, were each shot in the leg. They were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, Alfaro said.

A police source said the boys have documented gang ties.
