A portion of Willie Road in northwest suburban Des Plaines is scheduled to close this Monday, and it will remain closed until the end of 2015.

Parts of Willie Road will be closed between Elmhurst and Mount Prospect roads to reconstruct pavement and install new culverts, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The closure will remain in place until the end of 2015, IDOT said. Access to all businesses on Willie Road will remain open and a detour will be in place.

The work is part of the reconstruction of the Elmhurst Road Interchange on I-90. The Illinois Tollway is rebuilding the interchange ramps along with the Elmhurst Road Bridge to accommodate a full-access diverging diamond interchange at I-90 and Elmhurst Road, IDOT said.

The $3.4 billion project is part of the Elgin-O’Hare Western Access Project.
