As they teased Friday during their sold-out Cubby Bear show, the Foo Fighters plan to play across the street at Wrigley Field next summer, promoters announced Monday.

The show is set for Aug. 29 at the storied ballpark at Clark and Addison. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at www.Cubs.com/foo  or by phone at 800-THE-CUBS.  Fan club pre-sales begin Friday.

Dave Grohl and bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were just in Chicago to play at the Wrigleyville venue where Grohl saw his live show, an ’80s concert by local punk rockers Naked Raygun.

Chicago is the focus of the first episode of the band’s HBO series “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways,” which examines the music that emerged from eight U.S. cities. An album resulting from the series, “Sonic Highways,” comes out Nov. 10.
