‘Newsreaders’ is back with new host, same sense of humor

In today’s Lori’s List, TV critic Lori Rackl reviews season two of “Newsreaders,” premiering at 11 p.m. Thursday on Adult Swim.

Sometimes the perfect nightcap is a short, 15-minute dose of comedy. Adult Swim’s spoof of news magazine shows always delivers.

From the creative team behind the network classic “Childrens Hospital,” this takedown on the likes of “60 Minutes” is back for a second season, billed as being newsier and readier than ever.

It’s a quarter hour full of faux exposes, ridiculous sit-down interviews and inane commentaries.

Alan Tudyk makes his debut as the journalistically challenged new host this season, which features an entertaining line-up of guest stars, including Danny Pudi, Jenna Fischer, Rob Riggle, Billy Ray Cyrus and David Hasselhoff, along with the welcome return of Ray Wise as the out-of-touch, wildly inappropriate Andy Rooney-type, Skip Reming.
