Two men from Elgin and Berwyn were killed in a crash that also injured a Chicago Police sergeant late Sunday on the West Side.

A car was speeding westbound in the 4000 block of West Ogden about 11 p.m. when the vehicle struck the back of a squad car and then crashed into a building, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Two men in the car were dead at the scene, authorities said.

They were identified as Hugo Rodriquez, 27, of the 600 block of Bent Street in Elgin, and Jahaziel Duron, 21, of the 1600 block of Harvey Avenue in Berwyn, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Autopsies performed Monday found both men died of multiple injuries from the crash, and ruled their deaths to be accidents, the medical examiner’s office said.

A sergeant in the squad car was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Greer said.
