(DIXMOOR) A south suburban man died early Tuesday after he was shot near his home in Dixmoor.

Deanthony Jackson, 32, was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jackson was shot in the 0-100 block of West 143rd Street in Dixmoor, the same block where he lived, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Tuesday found he died of a gunshot wound to the torso and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Dixmoor police did not return calls for comment Tuesday.
