Man shot in South Chicago

A man was shot Saturday evening in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The man, 22, was in a vehicle about 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of East 81st Street when shots rang out from outside and he was struck in the back, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Community Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
