A South Side man has been ordered held on $90,000 bond after he allegedly stole more than $10,000 in jewelry from a Gold Coast store Wednesday afternoon.

About 2 p.m., security officers at the store in the 100 block of East Oak Street watched 66-year-old Cleveland Little remove items from a jewelry box that was on a desk, police said. Maps show Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces can be found on that block.

Little then walked out of the store and the security officers stopped him and notified authorities, police said. He did not show a weapon and no one was injured.

Officers recovered $32,050 in jewelry from a leather satchel Little was carrying, according to a police report.

Little, of the 4800 block of South Cottage Grove, faces one felony count of theft of items valued more than $10,000, police said.

On Thursday, he was ordered held on $90,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office. Little is next scheduled to appear in court Oct. 8.
