(ARLINGTON HEIGHTS) An 11-year-old girl who ran away from home Thursday in northwest suburban Arlington Heights has been found.

About 12:15 p.m., a family member reported Sydney Ayala missing from her home in the 100 block of North Lincoln Lane, according to a statement from Arlington Heights police.

An “alert citizen” spotted her in their backyard in the 1200 block of East Northwest Highway about 8:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a mass notification call and checking their property, police said.

Police said Sydney was uninjured and appeared to have run away from home. No foul play is suspected.
