A man shot himself in the chin Friday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The 18-year-old was shot about 7:25 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Green, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

Police said the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
