A man was shot Saturday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 27-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle in the 4200 block of West Wabansia about 8:50 p.m., when several males standing on the sidewalk nearby opened fire, police said.

He was shot in the lower back and taken to Norwegian American Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
