A 14-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a Woodlawn neighborhood shooting on the South Side on Sunday afternoon.

The boy was shot in the chest about 1:20 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Vernon, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said.

He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition, Lemmon said.

Police said the shooting may have been gang-related.
