(YORKVILLE) A southwest suburban man is charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

Michael Najar, 41, was charged Sept. 22 with failure to register as a sex offender, a felony, the Kendall County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Najar, of the 5700 block of Route 34 in Oswego, was arrested without incident Sept. 30 at the Kendall County Public Safety Center, the statement said.

He was previously convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in DuPage County, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry. At the time of the incident, Najar was 25 and the victim was 16, the website said.

Najar, who is listed as a sexual predator, was released after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said.
