GLENCOE — The Loyola girls golf team edged New Trier to win the Class AA Loyola Regional on Wednesday.

None of the Ramblers’ golfers broke 80 at Glencoe Golf Club, but freshman Nina Rutkowski (82), junior Nicole Wetoska (83), sophomore Margaret Hickey (84) and junior Blake Yaccino (86) combined to score 335 on a windy day.

Led by Louise McCulloch, New Trier finished with a 338. The junior’s round of 77 was the tournament’s second-lowest score behind Fremd junior Jaehee Hur (76). Prospect (352) was the third and final team to advance to the Class AA Warren Sectional, which takes place on Monday.

Glenbrook North (356) came up just short of qualifying for the sectional as a team, but junior Amy Hong (78) and sophomore Emma Vickery (85) advanced as individuals. The top 10 girls on non-qualifying teams advanced to the sectional.

Glenbrook South junior Arina Kim and freshman Sophia Lau both shot 87s to advance to the sectional as individuals. The Titans shot 368 as a team.

Evanston and Niles West finished with scores of 429 to tie for eighth out of 11 teams. Neither team had anybody advance to the sectional.
