Elite Baseball Training’s 2016s team, which featured several local athletes, finished fifth out of 216 teams at the WWBA Underclass World Championship.

The tournament, which ended on Oct. 13, is a prestigious event that includes many of the best players and teams in the country. The Elite Baseball Training’s 2016s team included Park Ridge resident Nick Stefanowicz and Norridge residents Sam Ferri, Michael Ruffolo and Vito Iovino.

All four are juniors this year. Stefanowicz and Ferri go to Notre Dame, while Ruffolo and Iovino attend Ridgewood.

Stefanowicz and Ferri were both all-tournament selections. Stefanowicz didn’t allow any earned runs in 12 1/3 innings pitched. He gave up seven hits and struck out five. Ferri, who has verbally committed to the University of Notre Dame, hit .417 with three doubles, two RBI and seven runs.
