The Cubs were the reported frontrunner Sunday night to sign free-agent catcher Russell Martin.
Toronto, though, has made the winning bid for the best catcher available this offseason.
Peter Gammons broke the news that the Jays landed Martin.
It’s a five-year, $82 million according to various reports.
