Two suspects were taken into custody Thursday afternoon after they sped away from Chicago Police officers attempting to question them in the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Officers conducting an investigation about 1 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Kedvale tried to interview two males sitting in a vehicle, police said.

When the suspects saw the officers approaching, they sped away, police said. As they fled the scene, one officer fired shots, but no one was struck.

Eventually the suspects’ vehicle collided with another vehicle near Kostner and Archer and a male in that vehicle was taken to Holy Cross Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two suspects, males of unknown ages, were not injured in the crash and were taken into custody, police said.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating because shots were fired, spokesman Larry Merritt said.
