A 17-year-old boy was shot Saturday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was shot in the groin about 12:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Monticello, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized.

Based on preliminary information, the boy may have shot himself in the groin, Sweeney said.
