Woman shot in Riverdale

A woman was shot Wednesday night in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The woman, 36, was in the 13200 block of South Vernon at 9:10 p.m. when she was shot in the chest and right arm, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Alfaro said. Her condition had stabilized. According to a police source, the woman told authorities that she had been smoking crack before she was shot.
