As might be expected from a 2-2 start to the season at the Rock Island Tournament, West Aurora coach Gordie Kerkman saw both good and bad.

“We have plenty to work on,” Kerkman said. “But we got good experience against good teams, especially teams with very good quickness.”

Playing two games each day, West Aurora opened and closed with wins over Richwoods (70-49) and South Shore (74-30) sandwiched around closer losses to Rock Island (64-52) and No. 4 Bogan (70-65).
