Amy Schumer is known for her potty mouth, but I’m sure she’ll be on her best behavior when she hosts the MTV Movie Awards next year. Schumer herself announced the news on social media — letting us know she’ll be running the show from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on April 12.
“I am honored to be hosting the awards,” Schumer, 33, said in a statement. “I will carry the audience with me like a teen mom #breaktheinternet #breakmywater.” The comedian put the word out on Wednesday, turning to Instagram, Facebook, Vine, Tumblr and Snapchat. Schumer is the first host in the show’s 24 years to make the big announcement herself.
“Wickedly funny and sharply insightful, Amy Schumer is perhaps the most ascendant talent in comedy today and she’s on the brink of an epic year,” said Stephen Friedman, president of MTV. “We are thrilled to work with Amy to create an unpredictable and hilarious showcase for Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters and brightest stars in what promises to be the most combustible Movie Awards ever.”
