Report: Fire add Ghanaian attacker David Accam

So far this offseason, the Fire have added players with local ties or ones who were plying their trade in Scandinavia.

It looks like the Fire have acquired another player who fits into the latter category.

Swedish media is reporting that the Fire have signed attacker David Accam. Accam, 24, plays for Helsingborg in Sweden’s top division. He’s scored 30 goals in 62 appearances since moving from lower-level Ostersund in 2012.

Accam was reportedly a target of Mexican club Tigres and also Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United in the English Premier League.

NOTE: The Fire selected no players in Friday’s first phase of the Major League Soccer re-entry draft. Only three players overall were selected in the draft, which continues with Phase Two next Thursday.

None of the six Fire players available were selected. That group includes Patrick Ianni, Hunter Jumper, Steven Kinney, Sanna Nyassi, Gonzalo Segares, and Bakary Soumare.
