Man shot during robbery in West Garfield Park

A man was shot Friday night during a robbery in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 19-year-old man was walking about 10:10 p.m. in the 900 block of South Keeler when two males, one of which was armed with a handgun, exited a white SUV nearby and announced a robbery, police said.

When a struggle ensued, the man was shot in the leg, police said. The robbers then stole the man’s wallet, cash, cell phone and shoes and jumped back in the SUV, which sped away.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
